Orion has adopted the advanced rotational magnetic ranging system (RMRS),geo-steering while drilling tools with screw rod drilling assembly, it was an active range measurement system in an artificial magnetic field. It depends on the sensor to detect the artificial magnetic field in the drilling to determine the direction and distance of drilling and its distance to the target point so as to adjust the drilling trajectory and guide the drilling direction.
The technology was widely applied in the connectivity engineering of coal bed methane, slt (alkali) horizontal well groups and in the SAGD wells), which offers magnetic positioning for gas injection well along the upper direction of drilling. Orion has succeeded in engineering of more than 200 rotating magnetic ranging wells with 100% successful engineering rate, Orion also owns company developed connectivity software system.

Orion was in December 2012 at xxx block in Shanxi designed and executed in an engineering of a big displacement U-shape coal bed methane well, to which, the distance of connection of horizontal well and vertical well was up to 1,226.73 meters. Thanks for the careful design and engineering program, it has overcome a near east to west directional magnetic interference and after overcoming magnificent drag at and along the super- long horizontal well section, Orion has achieved the successful connectivity at the first time try.
Orion has designed a U-shape well for remote end connection at xxx block in Henan for Henan Coal Bed Methane Company in June 2012, and the final connection was achieved at 711 m horizontal well displacement using the 177.8 mm fiber glass casing for an external diameter of vertical well. The job has maintained the record in China for the one time successful connection within the minimum target radius.
